Sidekickcast Episode #18 - Bristol Expo and Vulcan Love Bits

Sidekicks three this week as regular hosts Dan (Marshall Law) and Gavin (The Boneman) are joined by semi-regular Davlo to discuss the Bristol Comic Expo and Small Press Expo aswell as the new Star Trek movie. Of course this being the Sidekickcast any in depth discussion and critique quickly descends into queries about Vulcan love organs. From our recordings at Bristol Expo hear Bones nervously ask Mike Carey an X-Men question during the DC Vertigo panel with interesting results in a Sidekickcast Exclusive.
In Stack Attack this episode we cover The Unwritten #1, Flash: Rebirth #2, Invincible Iron Man #13, Captain Britain & MI:13 #13, Solomon Grundy #2, New Mutants #1, Dark Reign: Young Avengers #1, Battle for the Cowl #2, Uncanny X-Men #509, Viking #1 and Superman: New World of Krypton #3...kinda.
We reset the clock in Secrets and Lies as nobody knew what the score was and couldn't be bothered to listen to the last few episodes, call it our own Marvel Re-numbering fiasco. In our ongoing series of reverse Dig This! we take a look at Battle Pope, recommended by forumite Mrs Meanie aswell as another run at All Star Superman vol.1 now that all the Sidekicks have read it. No out-takes after the outro music this week, instead we've got a special Lost vs BSG quiz that you can play along with at home.

Sidekickcast Episode #17 - An Evening With Monkeys With Machineguns (Live from Bristol Expo 2009)

So here it is our first ever interview, un-edited and raw as hell as we spend an evening and quite a few drinks with The Monkeys With Machineguns (MWM) otherwise known as Chris Lynch and Stuart Tipples. A completely different format to a regular episode there'll be no Secrets and Lies or Stack Attack just pure unadulterated chat with two truly fun and witty independent comic book creators.
We find out how the Monkeys came to be, where they're going and where they'd like to find themselves in the future. We talk about each of their influences and what it's like to work as a team in the independent comic book industry. They of course want to tell everyone about their upcoming series; The Magpye and it sounds as though they could be onto something special with this new and inventive character.
I should warn you, this was recorded in the hotel bar so there's alot of background noise and the conversation get's more and more out of hand as the drinks keep coming. Chris and Stu take us on a hilarious journey branching off into all levels of geekdom as we descend into debate over everything from Grant Morisson's The Filth to the original animated Transformers movie to a comparison of Batman Returns and the recent Dark Knight film.

Sidekickcast Episode #16 - No One Ever Really Dies

Just the original Sidekicks again as Gavin (The Boneman) and Dan (Marshall Law) get prepared to impress at Bristol Comic Expo by showing how little they know really know about comic book creators. And just what does it take to kill an X-Man nowadays?
Pretty much a Marvel-a-thon in Stack Attack with Uncanny X-Men #508, Wolverine: Weapon-X #1, New Avengers #52, Daredevil #118, Punisher #4, Avengers: The Initiative #23, Kick Ass #6, Incognito #3 and much more.
We've totally lost track of Secrets and Lies, nobody has any idea who is in the lead anymore and we need your help. We're gonna keep bumbling along but we need you to literally tell us the score, there may even be a little prize in it for you if you get it right.
A flip reversal in Knowing Me, Knowing You has Gavin reading Omega The Unknown and Dan tackling new title I am Legion. In other business the Sidekicks get down to reviewing the latest movie offering from the X-Men franchise; X-Men Origins: Wolverine will it be this year's Iron Man or carry on in the vein of X-Men: The Last Stand? Keep listening past the outro music for some extra rubbish out-takes.
