Mike's Library Hot Picks: The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded attacks & World War Z

“And when hell is full the dead shall walk the earth” Yup, you guessed it, this week is Zombie week, with two reviews of zombie-orientated books, both by the same writer. Also, in a cunning twist, one of the books is not a graphic novel but an actual novel, no pictures or nothing, just words.

First up is “The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded attacks” written by Max Brooks (World War Z, Justice League voice artist), he’s also the son of Mel Brooks, which in itself is very cool. The book is illustrated by Ibraim Roberson (cover artist for much of X-Men: Second Coming and Necrosha)

Don't Go Zombie - Virgin jump on the Zomibe/Comic Book Train

Like we needed anymore evidence that both comics and zombies are going totally mainstream but yesterday's copy of The Metro (free commuters newspaper here in the UK) is adorned with full cover ads promoting Virgin Trains using their ‘Don’t Go Zombie’ slogan. In addition to this, the paper is set up to look like a comic book about said zombies.

Thanks to the guys over at AintitCool for these production shots from the filming of The Walking Dead TV show. The first image which is actually an official shot released by AMC (above) is the one that got me most excited. It looks like it's taken straight from the book and is the biggest indication yet that this series is on the right track and keeping faithful to the books.
