Cable Reborn...Again!

Whilst SDCC '11 was going on I was trying to stay out of it, I wasn't there, we had no Sidekicks there so I decided not to report much news from the show. If I'm being honest I was having a bit of a sulk, plus SDCC news always makes good content for Secrets and Lies on The Sidekickcast. There was one bit of news that passed me by that I should've reported on, as I promised I would here, Cable was not on the list, so that's an epic fail by me.
CARNAGE U.S.A. - POPULATION DIE!

I have a confession to make, I know little to nothing about Carnage and I know even less about Carnage U.S.A. What I do know is that it's drawn by the extraordinarily talented Clayton Crain, formerly of the stunning X-Force (written by Christopher Yost) and the trade I'm reading right now, Ghost Rider (written by Garth Ennis). There are times during X-Force where I felt Crain's art was a little too dark and didn't aid the storytelling even though I always enjoyed the style, whilst in Ghost Rider his work always lights up the panels with brilliant hellfire. I'm hoping for more of the same from this new Carnage limited series and judging by these stunning covers/promos by Crain, I won't be disappointed. I hear Zeb Wells (Robot Chicken, New Mutants) ain't too shabby with a bit of dialogue here and there, keep 'em peeld Sidekicks.either
Fear Itself: Uncanny X-Force #1: First Look

Fear Itself descends upon Wolverine's X-Force in a most Uncanny way, it's Uncanny X-Force vs a group of murderous zealots...so what else is new?! Well, this limited series is brought to you by Sidekick favourite, Rob Williams, he's Welsh and he did our live Secrets and Lies, of course he's our favourite, and on art, Simone Bianchi, who Sidekickcast co-host Dan has been quite rude about in the past but I like his style. Not just that but I think you'll recognise the guy X-Force have got strapped down and look like they'r about to torture, abrother in arms! Any excuse to see a little more of this dynamic and quite frankly kick-ass team, and I'm sold, so bring it on, I can't wait for 6th July and neither should you! Carry onto the next page for the rest of the preview and don't forget, keep 'em peeled Sidekicks.
X-Men: United No More! Schism First Look!

It's X-Man vs X-Man, it what seems to be another rolling event in the X-Universe, can anyone remember when there wasn't an event in the X-Universe? Looks like it may be Cyclops' X-Men vs Wolverine's X-Men, I can get with that, just like playing Marvel vs Capcom.
Something Silly for Sunday # 92 - Wolverine is in... [UPDATED]

It started off as a joke, then it became self-referential, then it became the target of fan ire and now it's on the verge of eating itself... Just how many comics is Wolverine in?
From the way people go on about it (including us!), you may be surprised at the answer. Or I may just be being a little naive... I've only counted regular titles and not one-shots and/or guest appearances but click through for the answer and some cool artwork!
Remender's Uncanny X-Force

X-Force has been one of the few X-titles of the last few years that I've consistently enjoyed and that's mainly down to the excellent writing from Carig Kyle and Christopher Yost. Well come October there will be somebody else in charge of the book that will be relaunced as Uncanny X-Force and I couldn't be happier about it. If anybody else had been put on this book I would've been thrown into a geek rage but Marvel have chosen extremely well and put the FEAR Agent team of Rick Remender and Jerome Opena in the driver's seat. The new lineup will be: Wolverine, Archangel, Fantomex, Psylocke and Deadpool. Can't say I'm totally loving that team, especially as Deadpool is really starting to get on my tits but I'm more than willing to give it a go as I'm sure Remender has some cool ideas for these guys especially as theyy're going up against the return of EN Sabuh Nur himself; Apocalypse.

Slipped through the net

Here's the reviews we didn't have time get to do on the last show.
X-force 7 - does a really good job of showing the repercussions of the first mission (the arc-angel/wolfsbane showdown) without being contrived and still manages to have some really good character moments and move the story forward for the next arc. Really reminds me of the good old days of Fabien Nicieza writing X-men, where they trusted the reader to keep up and made it compelling enough that you kept all the strands in your head.

X-force 8 - is what team books really should be. The vanisher is in pocession of what we believe is a sample of the Legacy virus and Wolvie, X-23 and angel set up a sting for the vanisher, But they still know to mix it up with character moments with the effects the mind manipulation has had on wolfs bane. Not sure what the frakk that demon-bear is at the end!
The Fall of an Angel - X-Centric Crib Sheet #3

The Fall of An Angel
Intro
X-Force 1-6, Angels and Demons (now a trade paperback) featured the much-publicised return of the Archangel.
The fact that it was much publicised throws up a big question for the neophyte X-fan – Why is the return of Archangel so important?
We’ll consider:
Who is Archangel?
What does he represent about the X-Men themselves?
You may wish to consider:
What does the return mean for the character of Angel?
What does it mean for the future direction of X-Force, the comic that featured his return?
X-Centric Crib Sheet #2

What the Purifiers did next...
At the end of God Loves, Man Kills, Styrker was arrested, having survived being shot by police.
Following this he escaped from prison and intended, again, to commit suicide.
During his planning, he discovered the Nimrod Sentinel.
Nimrod appeared in Days of Future Past as the most advanced Sentinel of that time.
Sentinels are mutant-hunting giant robots.
When Rachel Summers (Scott and Jean’s daughter from an alternate time-line) travelled from the future, he hunted her to present-day New York and was befriended by a construction worker, Jaime Rodriguez, who obviously didn’t fully appreciate who or what Nimrod was.
Nimrod remained in cover, gathering information and altered his prime directive, to destroy all mutants, choosing instead to only hunt mutant outlaws.
He discovers a piece of the Master Mold.
