Captain America #1 Preview

Steve Rogers has had a pretty busy life. He's been generally weedy, poorly and sickly; he's been experimented on; he's been to war; he's met presidents; he's been blown up whilst surfing a plane; he's been frozen in the Arctic; he's been thawed out; he's headed up the Avengers; he's headed up S.H.I.E.L.D; he's helped start a Civil War; he's been assassinated; he's been back and forth through his own past; and currently he's been leading a black-ops team of heroes. But now he's got something else to look forward to...
Daken: Dark Wolverine #9.1 Preview

He's a friend of the Sidekicks for sure, and here, courtesy of Marvel, we've got a sneak peek at Rob Williams's and artist's Ron Garney's Daken: Dark Wolverine #9.1. I've been very much enjoying this ".1" business that Marvel have employed and it has generally worked as advertised. This looks like it'll be another title to add to my stack...
Something Silly for Sunday # 92 - Wolverine is in... [UPDATED]

It started off as a joke, then it became self-referential, then it became the target of fan ire and now it's on the verge of eating itself... Just how many comics is Wolverine in?
From the way people go on about it (including us!), you may be surprised at the answer. Or I may just be being a little naive... I've only counted regular titles and not one-shots and/or guest appearances but click through for the answer and some cool artwork!
GONZO Blast Special! The Alternative Royal Wedding

It's becoming a global media event and we're a global media outlet - what did you expect? Also, the holiday weekend last weekend and the holiday weekend this weekend mean that I'm a bit strapped for time so there you have it!
As Prince William and Kate Middleton prepare to tie the knot at Westminster Abbey, we here at the Sidekick Blog make our way to a secluded corner of the garden party, take off our shoes and socks, losen our dickie bows, dip our feet in the water feature, order some more cocktails and reminisce about great weddings of yore.
That involved comic book characters. And perhaps didn't attract quite somuch world wide attention.
They're not really in order of preference, lavishnes or anything like that, they're just weddings. So grab your confetti, dust off your morning suit and grab a box of tissues. For drying your eyes, dirty!!
Cyber City Oedo 808 - An-Absolutely-Not Suitable-For-Work Tribute.
Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyber_City_Oedo_808

When researching my earlier blog on the Iron Man, Wolverine and Blade anime projects, I was reminded of my favourite anime of all time, Cyber City Oedo 808.
Now I don't really want to go on for hours about how awesome it was, but to my 14 year old mind there was one thing in particular that really stood out.
Click through below to find out what it was.
And please do note that this is not suitable for work. Or for kids. In fact, due to the video's content it should probably not be viewed by anyone.
Anime Invasion of the Marvel U!

Bones posted earlier with some footage from the X-Men Anime and it got me pretty excited.
So I did a little digging and discovered that there are 3 other Marvel Anime projects in the works! It seems this is all old news but then, since I've been tirelessly blogging about video games for you lot, I've kind of had my finger off the pulse. In fact, the last time I looked at animation was waaaaaay back here!
Ladies and gentlemen... may I present to you, for your viewing pleasure, Iron Man Anime and Wolverine Anime. Of course there's a Wolverine Anime...

In the Grim Future of the 41st Century There is Only War...

I used to be a massive Games Workshop fan. The hours spent pondering rulebooks and planning purchases can barely be fathomed by my time-starved older self. Warhammer 40k was my game of choice and the mighty Space Marines were my favoured army although circumstance had dictated that I collected an Ork force (the kid I persuaded to get the boxed set insisted on doing so only if he could go as the marines leaving me with the Waaaaagh brigade...).
As I got older and found more preferable ways to spend my time and money and my active participation in the world came to an end. But I always carried a torch for the 40k universe and looked forward to the day that I could go back there, just without spending a small fortune or sinking all my time into it.
Cosplay UK Mania at MCM Expo 2010

I had an absolutely great time at the MCM Expo 2010. One of the things that really made it, other than the things discussed by Gavin here, was the Cosplayers. They were an absolutely permanent fixture of the 3 day event, so much so that when on the way back from the Expo I found it weird to look around and not see them brightening up people's days.
So hat's off to all of the Cosplayers that made it to MCM Expo 2010. I didn't manage to make it to the Euro Cosplay finals like I'd wanted to but these folk certainly made up for it. The love and attention to detail that went into these guys' and gals' costumes really needed to be seen first hand to be believed, I just hope that these pics I snapped whilst wandering around do them justice.
If you see yourself here, post a comment at the end - it'd be great to hear from you and also the perfect opportunity for you to inform me that you are in fact Kurosaki Ichigo from Bleach and not Aunt May from Spiderman.
Ladies and gents I present to you, and in no particular order, the Cosplayers of MCM Expo 2010!
