Mike's Library Hot Picks: Victorian Undead & Justice

Welcome watchers of illusion, to the castle of confusion, stay with us now for this is the time of adventure, I Tregar offer this challenge, beyond that portal lies the dungeon of deceit…..so enter, Stranger, don the helmet of justice…..sorry that’s the beginning to Knightmare not my reviews. Right what am I recommending this week, well, I have three books although two are parts one and two of the same story.
First up is a great book from Wildstorm comics, written by Ian Edgington (Wolverine: Knights of Terra, Torchwood Rift War). The book is illustrated by Davide Fabbri (Starship Troopers, Star Wars) and supported by Tom Mandrake (Great name) (New Mutants 1st series, The Spectre). The book in question is entitled “Victorian Undead: Sherlock Holmes Vs Zombies”.
Old Man Bones: The Power of OST

Welcome to a new set of posts from Old Man Bones, an older gentleman with a passion for all things Geek, he also happens to be my Pops - Bones
Browsing through the internet (what's new), my ears suddenly pricked up and my head swiveled like Linda Blair, towards the TV. What had caused this you may ask .....Darth Vader of course ! VW cars have very cleverly used music from "Star Wars" to target gentlemen (maybe a few ladies as well) of a certain age to watch their advert. Although I have no intention of buying a new car from any manufacturer in the near future, the tingles that ran down my back on hearing this music, ensure that I'll watch the advert as long as VW continue to use it.
That got me thinking of other film music (or original sound track, as it's now called) that could cause an emotional reaction from me. So here is my top 10, in no particular order of memorable Sci-fi/Fantasy/Comic OST's, (limited to original composers, so no Iron Man, sorry Ozzy)....!
This year I have been mostly playing... Part 3

Ladies and gentlemen! You join me at a momentous time! 2010 is officially over! I had hoped to get this out near enough to Chinese New Year on 3rd February so as to still give it some sort of validity but even that is now a speck in the distance... But don't fret! The Oscars practically reviews last year's movies and that was only on the other night so here is the last part of my Oscars - part 3 of this spectacular review of 2010 that will finally close the book on my gaming year.
My gaming year based on a January to December affair. Not the Chinese calendar or the Oscar year. I'm just using those to not feel so silly.
Anyways! In the glorious tradition established in part 1 and part 2, stand by for a recount of victories and defeats, highs and lows, sex and violence and rock and roll. Finally, the rock and roll!
So dive right in baby - I'll love ya...
Something Silly for Sunday #86 - Star Wars Beds
Link: http://gizmodo.com/5537630/crazy-diy-project-three+level-imperial-walker-bunk-bed

What is it that seems to inspire people to craft a sleeping environment out of the many ships and vehicles from Star Wars? Is this some kind of disease? Did Lucas secretly interpose subliminal messages within the holy trilogy to give people the desire to develop dodgy DIY DeathStars day beds? We'll never know but we will struggle on in the attempt to find the truth, until then check out these amazing beds.

[Insert number here] To Watch...
Despite the hint in the title, This Week I Have Been Mostly Playing... may or may not be a weekly post and it seems that right now it is a fornightly post at least.
So to keep the Sidekickcast Editor-in-Chief chortling in copy, I'm launching another new feature for the Sidekickcast Blog - To Watch...
The point of this feature is that I show you some truly spectacular trailers, you watch them and then I drip feed you details during the games' gestation period - keeping you hooked on Sidekickcast, much in the way that Phil Mitchell is now apparently hooked on crack.
As you can see from the title you need a number to insert and this post of To Watch is brought to you by the number 3!
Ladies and gents may I present to you, for your viewing pleasure, DC Universe Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I must've watched this brilliantly executed film somewhere in the excess of 20 times now and it never gets old, best thing to come out of the World Cup I reckon.

Green Lantern movie casts Abin Sur
Link: http://www.heatvisionblog.com/2010/03/green-lantern-taps-two-kiwi-actors-exclusive.html

According to The Hollywood Reporter the Green Lantern movie has found it's Abin Sur in the form of kiwi actor Temuera Morrison. Most people will recognise him as the guy that played not only Bobba Fett's pa Jango but also all the clone troopers in the Star Wars prequels. I first cam across him in the 1994 New Zealand film Once Were Warriors based on the novel of the same name. That movie was possibly one of the harshest and most bleak films I'd seen in my young life at the time and had quite a profound effect on me. He was quite wooden in the Star Wars movies but that's no surprise given the dialogue he had to work with but if you want to see if he really is good enough to play such a vital role in the Green Lantern movie I strongly reccommend checking out Once Were Warriors and it's sequel What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?.
Abin Sur was a member of the Green Lantern Corps who crash landed on Earth and recruited Hal Jordan to take his place as a Green Lantern .
