New Green Lantern Trailer
Our first real look at the Green Lantern movie other than those sneak peeks we had earlier in the week through Entertainment Tonight. I don't want to be negative, so for now I'm going to say nothing other than it doesn't look like the movie I had hoped it would be.
Making a Mockery of the Green Lantern

The original plan for this post had been to demonstrate most people's disdain for the Entertainment Weekly cover of Ryan Reynolds in his Green Lantern costume but this Red Bacon one is the only one I saved to my computer and now I can't find the rest online. There was a Power Ranger GL and a Green Goblin GL, so if you're one of those plucky photoshoppers please get intouch we always enjoy a good mockery on the Sidekick blog.
Comic Book Casting Craziness!

It's all go in Hollywood at the moment when it comes to hiring and firing on several comic book flicks. According to Ainitcool Stuart Townsend is off Thor and being replaced by Joshua Dallas in the role of Fandral. The official line is this was due to 'creative differences' but there is a rumour circulating that it was because he turned up 6 hours late to a screen test. He's not one of the Warriors Three, he's a very naughty boy.
And Green Lantern is....Ryan Reynolds?!

So just how many comic book roles does Ryan Reynolds want?! First he was in Blade Trinity (the only good thing to come out of that movie), then he's supposed to be playing the Flash (great casting that, a shame it didn't come off). Then he takes on Wolverine as Wade Wilson/Deadpool and get's his own Deadpool movie thrown in to boot. Now he's reportedly taken the Green Lantern role, edging out both Bradley Cooper (my personal choice) and Justin Timberlake (thank the gods!). Below is my (pretty poor) idea of what he may look like as the emarald avenger.

This guy is fast becoming the new Nicolas Cage, grabbing any comic book role he can get his hands on. Speaking of Nic Cage anyone else think he'd make a superb Sinestro?
I like Ryan Reynolds alot, I've followed his career since the Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place days but I don't really see him as Hal Jordan. He would be a pretty kick ass Guy Garner or even Kyle Rayner but Hal requires a certain gravitas that I'm not sure he has. I don't want to judge the guy before he's filmed a single scene so I'll just say good luck and I hope he pulls it out of the bag.
