The Avengers Trailer; A Sidekick's View

Geez, you go away on business for a couple of days and Marvel have the indecency to release a fully fledged teaser trailer for possibly the most anticipated comic book movie of all time; The Avengers. SO please watch the trailer and then join me after the jump for a Sidekick's view:
Mike's Library Hot Picks: The List

Gavin became the mighty Bones, and I became Bum-Chin, the most powerful man in the universe!
Well that’s that done, on with the review. This week is a look back at a darker time for the Marvel universe; it’s a book set bang smack in the middle of Dark Reign. Once again it features a number of stories so I will be focusing on them each listing the writers and artists and giving information of what to pick up after each story and how we got to where the story starts.
The Book is “The List” it was published originally in 2009 and was collected in a nice book that has some great stories in it. When these stories originally came out I only picked up the Uncanny X-men version as it became clear that it was essentially a jumping on point book for other titles. The list is something that Norman “Green Goblin” Osborn creates to make life easier for him and contains the following things to do:
Eliminate Daredevil
Kill Namor
Kill Frank Castle (The Punisher)
Kill Nick Fury
Neutralize Bruce Banner (The Hulk)
Control The World
Kill Spiderman
Mike's Library Hot Picks: The Punisher: Eternal War & Punisher MAX: In the Beginning

Welcome to a world of blood and violence, this week’s reviews and info sheet are all about the man who has been cleaning up the Marvel universe for over 30 years, yup this week we are looking at Francis Castiglione otherwise known as Frank Castle: The Punisher.
Comics according to Bluemeanie #3 - SAM THE (same) MAN

Bluemeanie has been at it again, this time reporting a bit of news we ignored here on the Sidekick Blog. Samuel Jackson has signed on with Marvel for a nine picture deal to play Nick Fury agent of SHIELD. I like the fact they have locked someone down to play the charcter in all the Marvel movies, it gives them a nice sense of consistency and continuity. Blue does however have a good point about Sam, his range has appeared rather limited over the years and we're all getting tired of it. If you've enjoyed this subject you can check out a lengthier discussion over at Bluemeanie's Bullshit, also his choice for Nick Fury is far better and more in keeping with the original Marvel continuity and not the Ultimate stuff.
Samuel L Jackson Agent of Shield, probably not

According to the LA Times Samuel L Jackson will not be appearing as Nick Fury Agent of Shield in Iron Man II sparking speculation that the character will either be played by someone else or not appearing in the movie at all. Although I would love to see Jackson as Nick again, it's not essential. it was anice nod to have him at the end of the last film, and like every other fanboy I did get a stiffy the size of Florida but really, who cares? We've always got the man, the legend that is the Hoff (see picture above).;)
In all seriousness I do think Marvel, assuming they want Nick Fury in future Iron Man/Avengers movies, should've locked Jackson down in a multiple picture deal, especially in today's economic climate.
A bit of Viral Marketing from Marvel

Spotted this over at CBR and if you check the secret message from Nick Fury on the cover you'll get a nice surprise. Nuff Said!
Rampage - September 1978!

I was given this recently as a birthday present. Something from the month and year I was born in...
Rampage is the UK reprint of 3 titles that had there own comics in the US, The Rampaging Hulk, The Defenders and Nova. For the sake of this article I'm going to talk about them as 3 separate stories and then an over all picture of the issue. I can't pretend to know much about these characters in real terms so I have no idea really where these stories fit into the whole. I think this makes a big difference to my enjoyment as I have to look at them as self contained little stories.
