As you know, here on the Sidekick blog we try to keep abreast of all the latest news and gossip in the comic book and geek world but being locked into good ol’ Blighty means sometimes it takes a little while to filter through and also I only tend to put the shit that I find interesting. So the Ultimate Universe isn't going to make it out of Ultimatum untouched, according to Jeph Loeb there is "no reset button", the Ultimate line is coming to an end and being replace by a new status quo 'Ultimate Comics'. CBR have a really nice Ultimate Comics roundup if you click HERE, including Bendis' view on Ultimate Spider-Man vol.2, Mark Millar's return to the Ultimate Universe with Ultimate Avengers and even more from Jeph Loeb on Ultimatum.

Hey there True Believers, got some more info from the con courtesy of CBR, a new ongoing New Mutants series is on the way seeing the return of the original alumni. Zeb Wells (Daredevil: Battlin' Jack Murdock, Civil War: Young Avengers/Runaways) will be handling writing duties with up and coming Brazilian artist Diogenes Neves (X-Men: Worlds Apart)on the pencils.

This weekend sees the launch of the third annual New York Comic Con (NYCC) and I'm not going, bollocks! I will however be updating the site during the weekend on intersting tit-bits of info and photos from the con to prove I'm not bitter or anything. keep 'em peeled folks.

New York Comic Con (NYCC) today loses one of it's biggest stars J.Michael Straczynski (JMS) to the British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA) awards. The script for the Clint Eastwood directed Changeling, written by JMS has been nominated for best original screenplay aswell as five other nominations including best director. JMS has been a favourite writer of mine for a long time especially his work on the show he created Babylon 5 and the fantastic Marvel MAX series Supreme Power, it's about time he got some recognition, I just hope we don't lose him completely to Hollywood.

The 2009 BAFTA ceremonies will be held Sunday, February 8 in London
