Great X-pectations: The Summers/Frost Baby

Fortune raises up and fortune brings low both the man who fares well and the one who fares badly; and there is no prophet of the future for mortal men. - Sophocles
Wise words from ancient Greece there, in the real world it does seem impossible to predict the future but we're not concerned with the real world, we're concerned with comics and the future of far more than mortal men, we're talking X-Men. What I propose to do in this series of propheciesposts is take a look at what is going on in the X-Men Universe right now, mix that up in the atomic-randomizer I call my brain and see what comes out. Today's topic: Will Emma Frost and Scott Summers have a baby?
Behind the Masks – Magneto

Who loves Magneto? I count all of you. He’s easily one of Marvel’s best characters, neither hero nor villain, but something in between. He’s fought the X-Men as the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and he’s also fought as one of them for periods of time. He’s Professor Xavier’s best friend and worst enemy all at once. And he’s one of the most powerful mutants around to boot.
Magneto’s screen appearances were largely limited to various Marvel related cartoons until the X-Men films, where he was portrayed by Ian McKellen (the winner of your vote for the best Magneto ever, by the way). The problem is, since the release of X-Men in 2000, most of the actors who have played the part in computer games and animation have all sounded like they’re trying to do an Ian McKellen impersonation, to one degree or another. Some have been more successful than others, and many of them are fine actors in their own right, but I personally would rather hear their own take on the Master of Magnetism. You may disagree with me, and I encourage healthy debate, so please let me know if I miss your favourite Ian McKellen off the list. On we go...
X-Men Regenesis

We know Uncanny X-Men will return soon after Schism breaks the team and we know that Cyclops will not be there, at least not in the first issue but this teaser gives us some indication of who will be there.
Mike's Library Hot Picks: Ultimatum & Ultimate Comics: New Ultimates: Thor Reborn

Somewhere in the dark and nasty regions, where nobody goes, stands an ancient castle. Deep within this dank, and uninviting place, lives Bumchin “Allo!”, overworked servant of "the thing upstairs" “Bumchin! Write a Review!” But that's nothing, compared to the horrors that lurk beneath the trap door, for there is always something down there, in the dark, waiting to come out...(usually its Dan)
So this week I’ve decided to review some of the Ultimate storylines from Marvel. I thought it was appropriate with all the news surrounding the “Death of (Ultimate) Spider-man”.
WTF?! Uncanny X-Men to End! X-Men, Uncanny No More!

Uncanny X-Men will end with issue #544 in October. That's it, that's all she wrote, no more Uncanny X-Men. WTF?!
This is all because of the fall out from Jason Aaron's Schism event, which has been described widely by Marvel folk and others as the X-Men's Civil War. Civil War was an event that ran in all the Marvel comics which split the universe straight down the middle based upon the inherent philosophical differences between Tony Stark (Iron Man)and Steve Rogers (Captain America) on how to deal/regulate with Superhumans and Superheroics. This Schism event seems to be based on a difference in opinion between Cyclops and Wolverine on how to move forward with Mutantkind, much like the Magneto/Xavier divide that came before this. What to do with a problem like Mutants eh?
X-Men: First Class Movie Review

It was an X-citing prospect: A proper X-Men movie free from the burden of Wolverine, now he was off making his own franchise, the tale of how the titular adversaries Magneto and Professor X became the mutant communities Malcolm X and Martin Luther King. Chuck in some mutants we hadn't seen before and the Cuban Missile Crisis and surely you would X-pect good things. (ED - That better be the last X-Pun or you're out of the gang!)
I did. Sadly, it wasn't all you would hope for.
X-Men: United No More! Schism First Look!

It's X-Man vs X-Man, it what seems to be another rolling event in the X-Universe, can anyone remember when there wasn't an event in the X-Universe? Looks like it may be Cyclops' X-Men vs Wolverine's X-Men, I can get with that, just like playing Marvel vs Capcom.
The Best X-Men: First Class Posters...Well Better than the Offical Ones!

I was just bobbling around the internet thinking about X-Men: First Class as I often do on a Monday morning when I thought I'd take a look at the X-Men Movies Facebook page when I came across these fantastic fan made posters. Clearly they're fan made but they still easily outshine the actual X-Men: First Class posters, examples of which, let's call the first one exhibit A, can be found here and the second one exhibit B can be found here.
Back in Black: The Dark Angel Saga Preview

Hey Sidekicks, long time no see. I trust you're all well and enjoyed the outstanding job @Neon_Lynx did editing the blog whilst I was getting a True Brit tan in sunny Spain? I'd like to extend my eternal thanks to him and the rest of the Sidekicks for a sterling effort in keeping the good ship Sidekick firmly on course whilst I indulged myself in the finer things in life.
Now I'm back and it's straight down to business with a preview for Uncanny X-Force #11 which begins The Dark Angel Saga, a story we here at Sidekick Central are very much looking forward to especially as it heralds the return to the Age of Apocalypse.
Fox Screw X-Men: First Class...Again!

Let me say this first, I am not a ranter, I am not an irrational fanboy hater, I am not Jack's inflamed sense of rejection (I am a fan of Fight Club, clearly) but I am pissed at Fox, for what seems like far too many times to count Fox's marketing deprtmnet have dropped the ball, this time with The X-Men: First Class poster.
