Coming Back to Comics: Why No Super Heroine Comics on my List?

by Alex Giles Email

So with all new releases coming out and with me getting back into reading/collecting comics I have been spending a lot of time looking at titles which are out or coming out, along with revisiting the ones I used to collect to see if they still did it for me and I noticed something:

From the age of 12 (1990) until I was 23 (2001) and for the last 3 months, I have never collected a comic based around a female character, not one.

Great X-pectations: The Summers/Frost Baby

by Gavin Jones Email

Fortune raises up and fortune brings low both the man who fares well and the one who fares badly; and there is no prophet of the future for mortal men. - Sophocles

Wise words from ancient Greece there, in the real world it does seem impossible to predict the future but we're not concerned with the real world, we're concerned with comics and the future of far more than mortal men, we're talking X-Men. What I propose to do in this series of propheciesposts is take a look at what is going on in the X-Men Universe right now, mix that up in the atomic-randomizer I call my brain and see what comes out. Today's topic: Will Emma Frost and Scott Summers have a baby?

Ten of the Best...Non-Mutant X-Men Characters

Ok, so I thought I would do something in addition to my usual reviews and picks, and after some discussion decided to launch a new segment called “10 of the best….” Each time I will be putting out a category for you lucky readers to pitch in your suggestions and then I’ll collate everything and put it out there.

To start things off I thought I would do 10 of the best…….Non Mutant characters associated with the X-men. Random I know but I figured I would use my rain man like ability to recall characters from yesteryear and let you know why I think they deserve their spot in the top 10, including their finest moments.

GONZO Blast Special! The Alternative Royal Wedding

by @Neon_Lynx Email

It's becoming a global media event and we're a global media outlet - what did you expect? Also, the holiday weekend last weekend and the holiday weekend this weekend mean that I'm a bit strapped for time so there you have it!

As Prince William and Kate Middleton prepare to tie the knot at Westminster Abbey, we here at the Sidekick Blog make our way to a secluded corner of the garden party, take off our shoes and socks, losen our dickie bows, dip our feet in the water feature, order some more cocktails and reminisce about great weddings of yore.

That involved comic book characters. And perhaps didn't attract quite somuch world wide attention.

They're not really in order of preference, lavishnes or anything like that, they're just weddings. So grab your confetti, dust off your morning suit and grab a box of tissues. For drying your eyes, dirty!!

X-Man vs X-Man: Cyclops vs Wolverine

Ultimate X-Men but you get the idea

A rumour on Bleeding Cool about a split in the X-men has got me thinking about the X-Future again. According to the article which proposes to be from a 'reputable comics source' it is suggested that there will be a split in the X-Men, with Wolverine taking one half of the team and Cyclops the other. It would seem they are setting up an Xavier/Magneto split based upon opposing philosophies.
