Uncanny X-Force Trailer

by Gavin Jones Email

Previously on X-Force...

So there it is, Uncanny X-Force. Love the creative team (FEAR Agent veterans), not so sure about the actual team. Marvel, do we really need another book with Deadpool in it? I used to love the guy but he's been completely over-exposed and now just pisses me off. Of course I'm being ridiculous, they say there are no bad characters, only bad writers and Rick Remender is a very, very good writer, in his hands I'm hoping I learn to love the Merc with a Mouth once again. No matter what happens, there is one thing I am sure about, it's going to look fantastic, just the few snippets of Jerome Opena's stunning art in the trailer have convinced me of that.

What the Deuce?! Fear Agent The Movie!!!!

What the Deuce?! Possibly my favourite comic book of all time Fear Agent is being made into a movie. According to Empire Online Universal have signed a deal with Dark Horse Comics to produce a movie based on the many adventures of Heath Huston everyones favourite Space-Drunk.

I try not to get too fanboy over most geek movies but this is different, I love this comic and the creative team behind it; Rick Remender, Jerome Opena and Tony Moore are arguably some of the best and exciting talent working in the industry today. I will no doubt be watching over the production of this flick very closely so expect to see alot more on this as soon as it becomes available.

So let the speculation begin, who should play Heath Huston? Empire suggest Ben Affleck, not a bad choice he certainly looks like Heath and he's got the action chops. Not really seen him in anything I've liked recently although he was the bomb in Phantoms. As long as he can do the Texas drawl I'm happy, maybe Luke Wilson would be good it has to be someone charasmatic and can play a mean drunk whilst looking good in orange. Sam Elliot for Heath's pops, it's a small role but pivotal he was made for the part.

Please Universal don't fuck this up, pick a great director who will stay as true to the books as possible and you'll have a winner on your hands I know it.

The Fear of the End

I was reading an interview on CBR with one of my favourite writers of the moment Rick Remender and how he's planning to finish up one if his creator owned series The End League. He's also going to be finishing off easily one of the best books out there at the moment Fear Agent; something I couldn't be more gutted about. Why this sudden move to conclude his titles? Well he is now a proud employee of Marvel Comics with an exclusive deal which will keep him pretty busy. As I have enjoyed both of these comics enourmously I'm left with something of a quandry, am I happy Remender will be at Marvel writing some of my most beloved characters? or Am I sad to be losing some new and interesting characters and stories so early on in their development?

For most of my comic reading through the years I've been a capes and tights sort of guy, love the big hero stories especially anything from Marvel and to a lesser extent DC. I followed the X-Family books religously and I'd only venture away from the big 2 publishers to pick up some movie tie-in stories like the Alien books from Dark Horse. I never considered that the writers of these books were writing something else before they 'appeared' at Mavel or DC. Of course I knew they must've come from somewhere but I just didn't care, all that mattered was how good they were at writing 'my comics'; the ones I liked to read.
