When Sidekicks go to war, a Bumchin is all that you can score (Score no more, score no more)
When Sidekicks go to war, a Bumchin is all that you can score (Workin' for the bad guys)

Well in honour of our current predicament with our beloved leaders getting their measuring sticks out I decided that this would be a suitable time to review some Marvel books.

Hmmm, what could I possibly review that could be of interest, oh yeah Civil War, or at least the books that the library has in stock.

WTF?! Uncanny X-Men to End! X-Men, Uncanny No More!

Uncanny X-Men #544

Uncanny X-Men will end with issue #544 in October. That's it, that's all she wrote, no more Uncanny X-Men. WTF?!

This is all because of the fall out from Jason Aaron's Schism event, which has been described widely by Marvel folk and others as the X-Men's Civil War. Civil War was an event that ran in all the Marvel comics which split the universe straight down the middle based upon the inherent philosophical differences between Tony Stark (Iron Man)and Steve Rogers (Captain America) on how to deal/regulate with Superhumans and Superheroics. This Schism event seems to be based on a difference in opinion between Cyclops and Wolverine on how to move forward with Mutantkind, much like the Magneto/Xavier divide that came before this. What to do with a problem like Mutants eh?

GONZO Blast Special! The Alternative Royal Wedding

by @Neon_Lynx Email

It's becoming a global media event and we're a global media outlet - what did you expect? Also, the holiday weekend last weekend and the holiday weekend this weekend mean that I'm a bit strapped for time so there you have it!

As Prince William and Kate Middleton prepare to tie the knot at Westminster Abbey, we here at the Sidekick Blog make our way to a secluded corner of the garden party, take off our shoes and socks, losen our dickie bows, dip our feet in the water feature, order some more cocktails and reminisce about great weddings of yore.

That involved comic book characters. And perhaps didn't attract quite somuch world wide attention.

They're not really in order of preference, lavishnes or anything like that, they're just weddings. So grab your confetti, dust off your morning suit and grab a box of tissues. For drying your eyes, dirty!!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 - Launch Trailer

by Gavin Jones Email

Link: http://marvelultimatealliance.marvel.com/

I've got to be honest, as much as I've tried to enjoy the Marvel Ultimate Alliance/X-Men Legends games they just do nothing for me. I don't really know what my problem is, you'd think I'd jump at the chance to play as some of my favourite characters but it leaves me cold. They just feel too limited, travelling from one 'dungeon' to the next pounding on guys using a variety of powers that all do the essentially the same things with flashier light shows. That being said why am I posting the launch trailer for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2? Two words; Civil War. This game takes it's cues from 2006's Marvel crossover story Civil War, it's brother vs brother superhero style. So maybe the game will still be the same old, same old but if it follows the story from the comics I may just have to give this series a second look.

The Civil War is coming to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Trailer

I've never really been a fan of the X-Men: Legends/Marvel Ultimate Alliance(MUA) franchises, what can I say button bashing just doesn't do it for me. Well, that's not strictly true, I was a huge Streets of Rage fan, there's just something about these Marvel games that turns me off. Good Graphics: Check, Good Story: Check, Good Gameplay: Not Bad, Good Characters: Double Check. The amount of charcters and different costumes available in these games has always been impressive and they are obviously lovingly crafted by people that know and understand the source material, yet I still don't enjoy playing it. I'm really hoping this new version will be the one that turns my head and makes me a fan, I'm almost a social out-cast amongst the other Sidekicks due to my dislike of these games.
