CICAE 2012 Update: Guest of Honour Announced

This year's comic con season is far from over over yet but already we're getting ready for next year. The most important con on next year's calendar is obviously the now two day Cardiff Comic and Animation Expo (that's right CICE becomes CICAE with the addition of animation to the line up) held on 25 - 26th February 2012 at the Cardiff Mercure Hotel. Why is it such an important convention? Well because it's ourhometown con of course.
They've just announced next year's Guest of Honour and we can reveal it's the legendary...
Mike's Library Hot Picks: Amazing Spider-Man: Origin of the Species & Doom Patrol: Brotherhood

Okay, two books this week with no back stories to them, one from Marvel comics and one from their Distinguished Competition (remember when Marvel used to call them that? You’re old).
First up is Amazing Spider-man: Origin of the species written by Mark Waid (Captain America, Fantastic Four) and illustrated by Paul Azaceta (Punisher Noir). The story collates Amazing Spider-man issues 642-647, the book it is reprinted in also contains some other little stories that I will talk more about later as there does not seem to be any reference to where they are from.
Something Silly for Sunday #31 - The Punisher lives in Cardiff!
Something simple this week as we've just had to re-record the Sidekickcast for a second time after a technical glitch meant we lost everything, oh the horror! The Punisher is alive and well living in Cardiff, I have proof. He lives just two streets away from my house and not only that he's now driving a Fiat Cinquecento, how very european of ol' Frank.

Back to the Comic Book Shop - Return of the Comic Guru
Link: http://www.thecomicguru.co.uk/index2.php

Nearly two months of being without a comic shop is hard on someone like me, especially when you've just started a comics culture blog and podcast. So you can imagine my relief when a letter dropped through my door telling me that my local shop Cardiff's Comic Guru was reopening today @ a new location. Not only that but Kristian Barry (store owner aka 'The Guru' or 'Comic Book Guy' by the Sidekicks) was offering his loyal customers 50% off anythin in the store at the relaunch and an increased 20% discount for life on standing orders, I'm not proud to say tears of relief and joy were shed.
