New Red Theatrical Trailer

by Gavin Jones Email

The book this film is based on is the next on my to-read-list as I continue to further my education in the comic book world and move away from the Marvel blinkers I've had on for most of my geeky life. Only problem is I can't find a copy of the trade anywhere for love nor money so I may just have to wait until the film comes out, looks bloody good and funny though. Oh and is that a possible future Judge Dredd I see there, I think it is.

Star Wars, Blade Runner, HellBoy, The Goonies, CannonBall Run and now The Walking Dead. What exaclty do all these prodcutions have in common (other than being awesome)? Well they've all had posters done by the great Drew Struzan, truly stunning.

Cap & Thor Concept Wet Dreams...and even more!

I'm guessing over the next few days we can expect to see a hell of a lot of this kind of thing as San Diego Comic Con (SDCC from here on in) spills it's geek drenched guts out on onto the expectant world. I'm not going to be doing full coverage as a) I'm not there, boo! b) I have a job and a life...well...kinda and c) as always I'm only going to put up the stuff that I'm kinda interested in, selfish I know but we've got to have some kind of filtering system and this seems as good as any.

Captain America: The First Avenger concept art

I'm loving this concept art for Captain America: The First Avenger, especially as it looks so close to one of my favourite Cap images of all time. If this is the direction the film is going in, I'll be a very happy man. I may be able to tell you soon as the film will be filming in Wales I'm going to make every effort to get down to the set and take a look.

On Set with The Walking Dead

Cool little MTV behind the scenes feature on The Walking Dead set, not a huge amount of zombie action but we do get to see Kirkman and Darabont looking pretty pleased with themselves.

Remender's Uncanny X-Force

X-Force has been one of the few X-titles of the last few years that I've consistently enjoyed and that's mainly down to the excellent writing from Carig Kyle and Christopher Yost. Well come October there will be somebody else in charge of the book that will be relaunced as Uncanny X-Force and I couldn't be happier about it. If anybody else had been put on this book I would've been thrown into a geek rage but Marvel have chosen extremely well and put the FEAR Agent team of Rick Remender and Jerome Opena in the driver's seat. The new lineup will be: Wolverine, Archangel, Fantomex, Psylocke and Deadpool. Can't say I'm totally loving that team, especially as Deadpool is really starting to get on my tits but I'm more than willing to give it a go as I'm sure Remender has some cool ideas for these guys especially as theyy're going up against the return of EN Sabuh Nur himself; Apocalypse.

So by now it would be a little redundant of me to post a review for Iron Man 2, there's plenty of opinion already out there and I want to see it again before I settle on a final verdict, at the moment I'm thinking "not bad, could do better". What I do want to focus on is the man I think is the real star of the show; Agent Phil Coulson.

Predators Trailer

by Gavin Jones Email

I know this trailer has been out for a little while and it's not strictly comic book related but I've watched it quite a few times now and each time I do I get a little more excited. The original Predator movie and even it's sequel were steadfast flicks at my house when I were a lad (along with Alien and Aliens...probably explains a lot really) and I'm very interested to see a back to basics approach to the franchise especially as Robert Rodriguez has so much to do with the production. Look at the cast too, Adrien Brody, Lawrence Fishburne and the legendary Danny Trejo. I'm sure there will be a Dark Horse tie-in comic book to accompany the film to so there stop complaining about the lack of real comic book connections, sit back and enjoy:

Cheeky Image - Still knipping at the heels of Marvel

by Gavin Jones Email

I made no bones about how pants I thought Marvel's special Avengers teaser images were, so much so that I stopped posting them on the blog. So imagine my joy when I saw this cheeky little teaser from those rapscallions at Image Comics. Firmly taking the piss outta Marvel but effectively promoting the Image Universe's very first proper ongoing team book; Guardians of the Globe, kudos to the Image marketing team I say (not sure aboput the name though guys).

Why Disney with these new cartoons you really are spoiling us: The Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes trailer

by Gavin Jones Email

Soon to be on Disney Channels across the globe:

We do seem to be literally swimming in comic book cartoons of late. I remember the days when I used to get so excited over my taped off the TV Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, kids these days don't even know their born, god I'm getting old.
