All Aboard the pre-SDCC Promotion Train

Marvel's globetrotting talent scout extraordinaire C.B. Cebulski has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Creator & Content Development of Marvel Entertainment. Yeah I don't know what that means either but I'm guessing it means he'll be getting more money for doing the same job but he'll get to boss more people around, that sound about right?
Dan Buckley, Publisher & President of the Print, Animation & Digital Divisions, Marvel Worldwide, Inc had this to say “It’s with tremendous pride that I announce C.B Cebulski’s promotion to Senior Vice President, Creator & Content Development. C.B. has been an instrumental part of Marvel’s success, recruiting the top talent in the industry and developing key global relationships. As he moves into this new role, I’m excited to see just what kind of new talent and creative directions C.B. brings to Marvel.”. It's nice to see the people that deserve the credit actually get it sometimes, well done Mr Cebulski, I just hope this doesn't mean we won't see any actual comic work from you?
First Look Stan Lee's New Superhero?
I may be wrong (I usually am) but isn't this the first bit of artwork we have seen for Stan Lee's new superhero work that he's been doing for Boom! Studios?

To me, this looks new but then it's also bringing back memories of some kinda cartoon he did a few years back. Have I been on the crack again? You tell me. Anyway if you want to meet the legend that goes by 'The Man' and you happen to be in the downtown San Diego area then you're in luck.
The Devil Falls: Shadowland Music Video
I've said the Shadowland event will have to be good, the lead up to this event hasn't bowled me over but I really want to like it. Daredevil as a big bad in the Marvel Universe intrigues me, especially if they go balls out and decide to stick with it and change the status quo, for a little while at least. They've made a good start with this music video, sure the track is pretty lame but it's got an overly dramatic gusto that I can't help but get onboard with and it's got some sweet art.
And now a public service announcement from the good people at Marvel:
It’s the battle for the soul of New York in SHADOWLAND #1, on-sale NOW! Superstars Andy Diggle & Billy Tan present the birth of the Marvel Universe’s greatest villain as the Avengers, Thunderbolts, Moon Knight and more must join forces to stop this deadly foe! Now, for the first time, experience the powerful new music video celebrating this landmark Marvel event.
City of Abacus Launch

You know those arty-farty-big-time-too-cool London book launches (Yeah I'm bitter I've never been invited to one, can you tell?), well now it seems comic books are getting the treatment they deserve too. V.V Brown, a model and singer from Northampton has decided to turn her hand to comic books and launched the book City of Abacus last month. Not sure what the book is like yet, expect a review soon but I'm very impressed with the effort and energy that has been put into the launch of the book, more of this please.
Signs and Portents: Chris Lynch vs. The SidekickCast
Link: http://www.spexpo.co.uk/

This year's Bristol International Comic and Small Press Expo 21-23 May will be the best so far. A bold statement, I know, but I can back it up. Nevermind the legendary Chris Claremont, Pat Mills, Ramon Bachs, Robin Furth, Paul Cornell, Charlie Adlard, John McCrea, Andy Diggles or Sean Phillips. Don't get too excited by the Eagle Awards 2010, the DC Universe panel, live music from Music Power Cosmic, The Losers panel or Claremont and Davis together again. The only place you need to be is at the Mercure Hotel Saturday 22nd May at 12.00pm for the Signs and Portents panel with Chris Lynch writer of the Markosia hit book; The Dark and hosted by none other than myself and fellow Sidekickcast host Dan Marshall. That's right, we're stepping out from behind the curtain to make a rare appearance in the real world, don't miss out.
Iron Man 2 Whiplash game: Slash and Burn
Link: http://www.whiplashslashandburn.com/

Iron Man 2 is here! Hurrah! But if like me you can't get to cinema until bloody Sunday why not waste some time between now and then with this online in-browser game from Unity. In the game you play the villain of Iron Man 2; Whiplash and your objective is to smash and burn as many racing cars as you can. Very basic gameplay but visually it looks pretty for this sort of game and is a welcome distraction from the mind numbingly boring spreadsheet work I'm currently doing. To download the the Unity install and get playing click here.
If you want to see what you're getting yourself into before downloading you can always watch this helpful video from daily motion.
I am Iron Man...No Really and you could be too
Link: http://www.iamironman2.com/uk/
Always wondered how you'd look in the gold and go cherry red armour? Or maybe you're more of a gun metal, alls guns a blazing sort of person? Well wonder no more, with a little bit of tinkering you too can be Iron Man or even War Machine, just click here. For a demo of just how the site works watch this video:
All this viral and promo stuff for Iron Man 2 is getting me seriously psyched for the release next week, I just hope I don't get over excited and expect the impossible.

Ianto back in Torchwood..kinda
Link: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=25701

The latest issue of the official Doctor Who Magazine, released tomorrow (15th April), features a story about good ol' Ianto Jones from Torchwood but not only that, it's penned by the actor that played him Gareth David-Lloyd. There was uproar last year when Ianto was killed of during the awesome Children of Earth storyline so of course the story in the magazine is of the flashback variety. So if you've missed the only gay in the Doctor Who village then pick up the magazine tomorrow, I may be picking it up just to see my beloved hometown of Cardiff as depicted by the award winning Pia Guerra. I only bought Paul Cornell's Wisdom series because I heard one of the stories was based in Cardiff and I absolutely loved it and now consider him to be one of the best writers in the business, so who knows where this could lead.
Mark Waid Smells Evil...his words not mine!
Link: http://www.boom-studios.net/

To celebrate one year of Irredeemable, Mark Waid and Boom! Studios have gone an interesting way. Firstly they're having a party @ C2E2 Challenger's Comics Friday April 16th, 2010, nothing too unusal there as Boom! are quickly becoming the rock stars of the comic book world and secondly at the same event you'll be able to see the launch of the Irredeemable Fragrance line from Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs. The Irredeemable Fragrance line features 5ml perfume oil blends based on the people and places of Irredeemable, including the Plutonian, Bette Noir and Mr. Qubit. So what does a Qubit smell like?!
You have to love the way these guys promote, not just content with some of the best comic book viral marketing, they're now even mocking their very own methods, kudos. Anyone that is going to the event and would like to do a report for us we'd more than happy to accomodate you, click here to be our roaving reporter, our man on the ground, the guy with his ass in the grass...you get the idea.
