Just one more short interview left from BICS 2009 (please excuse the sound quality as this was done on the convention floor right at the height of Sunday morning), this time from Bearded Skull Comics. Jamie Lambert and Dave Clifford; two of the nicest men in comics presenting the third issue of Dexter's Half Dozen which covers the exploits of a kick ass commando squad going up against Occult Nazi forces during World War II. Sound good? Well it is and well worth going back and picking up the first two issues, I'm sure if you contact the guys at their Facebook group they'll be able to help get your hands on them.
BICS 2009 Interviews - Burke & Hare creative team Martin Conaghan and Will Pickering

Whilst at the British International Comics Show 2009 (BICS 09) this weekend I was lucky enough to sit down with Martin Conaghan and Will Pickering; writer and artist respectively of graphic novel Burke and Hare from Insomnia Publications' new Vigil historical imprint. The book tells the ghoulish true story of serial killers William Burke and William Hare in early 19th century Edinburgh.
During the interview I was truly blown away by the level of enthusiasm both creators had for the story of Burke and Hare, not just the story everyone knows but the real truth behind the murders and their historical significance. These guys have lived and breathed this story and it shows in every part of this chilling and macabre production.

The British International Comic Show 2009 kicks off officially Friday evening with a launch party being held at Panama Bar, Canalside Place, 52 Gas street, Birmingham from 7.30pm. The show proper begins October 3rd Saturday morning @ Think Tank, doors open 10.30am and the whole thing comes to a close October 4th Sunday 5.30pm.
So who's going to be there? Well most importantly; me (and a few sidekickcast regulars you may recognise but most importantly me) and if you see me, I'll be the twat in the hat with a Sidekickcast badge on, please come up and have a chat. I can be found either talking to girls or in the nearest bar to the convention centre. Other than me, there'll be some fantastic writers and artists to meet aswell as some pretty cool panels going on. Personally I'm looking forward to 70 Years of Marvel Comics hosted by Barry and Dave of Geek Syndicate fame with special guests Alan Davis, Mark Farmer, Howard Chaykin and Paul Cornell, sure to be a riot aswell as an informative and entertaining panel.
Buskers a preview

Some of you may remember that after this year's Bristol Comic Convention I couldn't stop banging on about Cancertown from Insomnia publications, well BICS 2009 (British International Comic Show) is coming up and rather than get left behind I thought I'd take a look at what Insomnia have in store for us for Birmingham.
Buskers is a manga graphic novel, no wait it's independent movie, no it's a new soundtrack. Oh hang on it's actually all three, the screenplay is written and produced by Jeymes Samuel and tells the tale of a guy nobody likes living in contemporary London and what happens to him when he walks the path less travelled. The comic book adaptation is being written by Sean Michael Wilson with stunning art by Manga artist Michiru Morikawa. At BICS 2009 there will be special copies of the book signed and with a demo cd of music to accompany the story. The whole thing is one massive multimedia mashup with talent such as Mos Def, Kevin Spacey, Damon Albarn and Ian Brown involved you know it's going to be good.
So if you don't want to be left behind on this one like I almost was last time on Cancertown check out a free preview of the book here.
