Coming Back to Comics: Too Much of a Good Thing?

by Alex Giles Email

So recently I have been getting back into comics, which if you read my article here you will already know. It has been around 7-10 weeks now since I started my standing order (pull list) and since then I got my hands on some back issues for Batman Incorporated and am trying to snap up some All-Star Superman as well.

Since returning to comics I have come across a couple of things I’ve noticed that weren’t apparent in the industry when I was previously collecting. The first, which I’d like to discuss now, is the over use of superheroes and the amount of comics they appear in each month.

And now the Bat Family DC Relaunch

by Gavin Jones Email

It's been exciting times with all this DC relaunch news, exciting but exhausting, being on this side of the pond makes it difficult to keep up but here is a collection of all the covers for the relauched Bat Family books with a little bit of comment by me when I think it's needed.

Detective Comics #1 - Tony Daniel

Writing and drawing from Tony Daniel again, he's done it well before just after Batman: RIP, tough job but if anyone can do it, he can. Shame Detective is going back to #1 but I'm certainly not as cut up about it as some fanboys, it just a number dudes.

My Eagle Awards Nods

Hope 'n' Change

First order of business, the above cartoon, nothing to do with the Eagle awards I just thought it was funny ok? - You can find Hope 'n' Change by clicking on the cartoon strip.

You may disagree with some of my nominations for The Eagle Awards this year but choices had to be made, mine were made based on what I have personally read and experienced in 2010. Fundamentally The Eagles are beautifully flawed as they allow those nominating to add to the list, this is both to it's credit and it's curse as you will see:

Some of these selections are bound to be disqualified mostly due to ineligibility, those that I feel may be marked as such will have the word FAIL written after them.

Q1: Favourite Newcomer Writer

Kieron Gillen

Newcomer writer? Really? The guy has been around longer than Old Spice but I thought, hey, why not? If Gillen hadn't been in this category the nod would've gone to Nick Spencer, I think.

Something Silly for Sundy #88 - Batman Street Art

by Gavin Jones Email

I honestly can't remember where I found this picture but that doesn't detract for it's beauty. It's the kind of street art that is so good it actually tricks your eyes for s second, I was honestly concerned for the fella standing on the ledge, of course I needn't have been worried with The Dynamic Duo on the case.

Holy Street Art Batman, we're actually 2-D!

Dick Batman using Damian Robin as surfboard whilst his pops Bruce Batman watches on proudly

According to DC's The Source this is big news, not sure whether I agree but here goes: Batman & Robin #16 is released in the U.S. today and not only is this Grant Morrison's last book on the run but it's also the launch of the next big thing; Batman Inc.
