Birmingham Comic Con 2011: Guests Announced: Mark Millar, Dave Gibbons and More

I was gutted not to see Birmingham International Comic Show (BICS) on the con calendar this year, it was the second con I ever went to and anyone that saw my pre-Bristol Expo post, will know that I get ridiculously sentimental about this kind of deal. We knew that the convention was going to be replaced by a smaller more intimate creator driven event but until now we didn't know who was going to be there. This press release should clear that all up with some impressive and surprising creators already attached:
Birmingham Comic Con Goes Prehistoric for 2011 27th August
Watch out for sexy cave girls and cave boys in Birmingham City Centre this summer as the Holiday Inn on Queensway plays host to some of the biggest names in comics including Mark Millar (Kick Ass, Wanted), Chris Sprouse, (Tom Strong) Dave Gibbons, (Watchmen) Sean Phillips (Criminal, Incognito) and the legendary Alan Davis, who’s list of creative credits rivals the length of a brontosaurus!
Follow up:
The weekend kicks off with an exclusive Friday Night Launch Party at the popular Oceana night spot as well as a special preview night where fans can gain access to guest for sketches and signings.
The one and a half day convention also boasts an impressive day of events on the Saturday including creator interviews, fun quizzes and live art events.
Add to that a huge selection of exhibitors with exclusive special offers and bargains galore and you have the ultimate convention experience for comics fans everywhere!
So Birmingham is back...kinda, but I'm impressed with the guest line-up so far, especially that Mark Millar is going to be there, I naively figured he'd now be confined to Kapow and the big US cons. I'll be really interested to see how this event develops, I hope the event is a huge success, just as long as they promise to bring BICS back!
