Rob Williams Comments on Fear Itself: Uncanny X-Force

It was announced yesterday that Rob Williams and Simone Bianchi would be the creative team attached to the Fear Itself Uncanny X-Force 3-part mini series released in July. As we are lucky enough to have met Rob due to his appearance on our recent Secrets & Lies panel and we know he's a big fan of Uncanny X-Force we thought we'd ask him for his personal feelings on writing for characters currently being handled so well by Rick Remender. Read Rob's comments just after the jump:
Follow up:
"Uncanny X-Force is genuinely one of my favourite comics at the moment. It's a combination of a cast that just works brilliantly together, Rick Remender's voice and the fact that the high concept of this being a covert kill-crew offers an inherent moral conundrum and very high stakes.. So when Marvel offered me the chance to write this mini-series, I was both hugely excited and somewhat intimidated. The standard on X-Force is very high. Fortunately, we've got Simone Bianchi on art, so you know the whole thing will look incredible. And our story - 'Before The Devil Knows They're Dead' - is one which goes to the very heart of the X-Force concept. We wanted this to feel like a storyline that matters." - Rob Williams
I'm sure you can tell from Rob's comments, everyones favourite Mutant militia are going to be in safe hands. Usually, we try to avoid these tie-in books after getting burnt pretty badly by X-Men: Civil War but this time we're in for the full three issues, especially when you hear what is actually involved in the story:
"What exactly is a mutant super hero kill crew afraid of? That's the question we had to ask,” said Williams. “A rogue cult of Purifiers believe that the actions of Fear Itself are the early stages of Armageddon and that they must kill many people as possible so their souls can ascend ‘before the devil knows they're dead.’ You can't question X-Force for wanting these crazies dead. But was it the actions of 'heroes' like X-Force that actually brought about the potential Armageddon of Fear Itself?”
This is one you cannot afford to miss, the mixture of one of the hottest Marvel writers of the moment and Bianchi's truly gorgeous art is a combination worth giving it a shot. A future 619 in the making? You'll just have to buy the book and wait to see but don't forget you heard it here first...kinda.
