What is it that seems to inspire people to craft a sleeping environment out of the many ships and vehicles from Star Wars? Is this some kind of disease? Did Lucas secretly interpose subliminal messages within the holy trilogy to give people the desire to develop dodgy DIY DeathStars day beds? We'll never know but we will struggle on in the attempt to find the truth, until then check out these amazing beds.

Ok this X-Wing is not in the amazing category but hey they get points for trying and R2 looks kinda cute.

We're getting a lot closer to the amazing stuff with this Millenium Falcon bed, just look at those matching sheets! In addition to being a mighty fine bed I'm reliably informed that it made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs.

This Y-Wing is sure going to take some beating, the level of detail is extraordinary and the sheer scale of the thing is astounding, to take it all in you need both of these pictures. You can see now why at the start of this post I described these as 'sleeping environments' rather than just beds, this would fill my entire house.

Even the movies have been getting in on the act with the movie 17 Again giving Thomas Lennon's uber-geek charater, Ned Gold a proptastic Landspeeder bed. Don't ask me how I know things about 17 Again, I was bored ok.

The coup de grace though has to the Imperial Walker AT-AT bed, pictured at the top of this post, made by a father for his son this piece is a true labour of love. This video diary explains in full detail just how it was done, it's a little long but worth every second, especially when you see the final finished product and the most amazing interiors. Makes me wish I was five again, just so I could go over for tea and play Star Wars, bagsy Han Solo.
