NYCC 09 Update 3: Ultimate Comics, Digital Motion Spider-Woman, Marvels project and more!

So the Ultimate Universe isn't going to make it out of Ultimatum untouched, according to Jeph Loeb there is "no reset button", the Ultimate line is coming to an end and being replace by a new status quo 'Ultimate Comics'. CBR have a really nice Ultimate Comics roundup if you click HERE, including Bendis' view on Ultimate Spider-Man vol.2, Mark Millar's return to the Ultimate Universe with Ultimate Avengers and even more from Jeph Loeb on Ultimatum.

Also announced were two comic books I'll certainly be picking up, Project Marvels from the sensationally good team behind the recent Captain America run, Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting and Punisher Noir by Frank Tieri and Paul Azaceta. Project Marvels is part of Marvel's 70th Anniversary celebrations this year and comes from a similar place as the originl Marvel's series but comes at it from a different angle. It is looking at the birth of the Marvel Universe, taking us right back to the original Human Torch in a high drama espionage thriller. And who thinks a Punsiher Noir series doesn't sound like a brilliant idea? The Punisher vs Al Capone, Nuff Said!
Brian Michael Bendis was pleased to announce that Spider-Woman will not only be hitting the spinner racks this year but will also be able to find her on itunes with her very own digital motion comic with art by Alex 'Don't Mention Namor' Maleev. We've had our ups and downs here @ Sidekick Comics with digital comics but we think this is a great idea, especially as it will be able to reach more people this way.
Not to be outdone by Vertigo's previous announcement of introductory $1 books, Dynamite announced that during these harsh economic times they will be doing the same (in all fairness they did it first with Project Superpowers), aswell as a new series from the one and only Garth Ennis; 'Herogasm'. IDW had some new stuff to announce in relation to their 10th Anniversary this year, a cover gallery book featuring every cover in the publisher’s history, an oral history of the company, featuring conversations with many of the most important figures over the past ten years including Clive Barker and Gene Simmons and an exclusive 10th Anniversary comic will feature all new Angel, Locke & Key, Zombies v Robots v Popbot, and Chronicles of Wormwood stories.
There was a hell of alot more news flying around but if you want to hear some of the more obscure news don't forget to check out this week's edition of the Sidekickcast, especially Secrets and Lies, Nuff Said ;)
