The horror, the horror
Lo and behold disaster has struck Davlo this week!
I’ve been reading the Batman: RIP issues and all of the related tie-ins with other Batman spin-off comics and all has been going swimmingly. I’m really enjoying the run, and I’ve enjoyed ticking off each of the titles from the checklist and getting further engrossed in the events as they unfold. The series is on the last leg now, and there aren’t many titles left to read – I think the last part of the actual Batman: RIP story is out next month, and its gunna be a doozy I can tell!
Anyway, as I say, all has been going great until, out of nowhere, I can’t find a copy of Batman and the Outsiders #11! How the f**k has this happened?? Admittedly, I don’t have a standing order with any store, and this is definitely going to be rectified let me tell you, but so far I haven’t needed to do it as there’s always been plenty of issues at whichever shop I go to, and I’ve been happily going through these last few months collecting what I need to get. I’ve been aware of the release dates of these comics and know when they are supposed to be in the shops, so that’s been fine. Sometimes, the dates get put back slightly, which is also fine. But last week, hit me like a mallet over my head!
Follow up:
I had been unable to find Batman and the Outsiders #11 (I think I’ll just call it #11 from this point on…) for a few weeks, and just thought that the date had been put back. Forbidden Planet had #1-10 and nothing further, the Comic Guru was going through hard times and didn’t get any new titles, and I didn’t really know where else to look after that. Not a problem I thought, it’ll be in next week. Next week came, and I spy #12 on the shelves!! My heart sank… I picked it up and bought it anyway, and furiously asked the assistant what’s happened here?!?!?! He said that there were three in store – ahhhhhh relief washed over me – and then after a looksie he concluded they must be the standing orders which haven’t been collected yet – AARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! Gutted.
So as it stands, I keep checking FP every so often and another small comic book guy I’ve got wind of, but no tengo to date. It would be soooo frustrating to have my first real collection of a comic book run tarnished by being an issue down – it’s driving me mad!! I think I’m a bit of an obsessive compulsive person anyway (I always type and re-type my blogs 6 times before posting them…) and I think that is par for the course with most comic book fans – please correct me if I’m wrong – but this will leave me with sleepless nights beyond imagination!!
I’m going to give the auld inter-web a bash and see if anywhere else is selling that elusive #11 but if not, I am screwed. Lured in and spat out by the industry – but I still want more!!! Damn them for getting their hooks into me…
Have I just made a complete schoolboy error or has this happened to anyone else?? Please lie if the former…
Never again will I make that mistake though – from now on this has become personal!!

This happens to me on a near weekly basis and will continue to happen until I take over this Goddamn industry and rule it with an immortal iron fist like it should be!
Roll on the Sidekick Iron Fist!
i'm clamming for mine and am getting concerned that there is going to be gaps and stuff missed, etc. when i finally do get my stash.
muuhh-uuhm!!
Last year during the X-men messiah complex x-over I had three issues missing, which meant even though I was buying the further installment, I couldn't read them until I'd perused the missing issues!!!
There is nothing more frustrating than languishing in publishing hell while the story seems to carry on without you.
Not to mention that with t'interweb being what it is today you're gunna find out if you don't read it 4 hours after the inks dried on yer fave Le homme Du Bat title.
May I also suggest, bustin ebay for your missin ish's in future. It saved my ass last summer.
